Frank Lampard has enjoyed a mixed start to his career as a manager, claiming some credible success along the way in his time with Derby County, Chelsea, and Everton.
His highlights include achieving a playoff place with Derby County in 2019, alongside leading his favoured Chelsea to a top-four finish in the following campaign despite having a transfer embargo placed upon the club.
Nevertheless, he faces the biggest challenge of his career in the dugout to date as he aims to steer his current club Everton clear of the Premier League relegation places as 2021-22 grinds towards its conclusion.
The Sporting News takes a look at Lampard's record as a manager against the Premier League's so-called 'Big 6' ahead of their critical end-of-season run-in.

In terms of 'Big 6' sides, where better to start than Lampard's most recent big scalp, Manchester United. The former Chelsea man has a mixed record against the Red Devils, but his victory over Ralf Rangnick in April could well prove vital to Everton's survival chances.
Wirth Chelsea, the 43-year-old gained just one solitary point against United, in a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford back in October 2020. Most notably, his old side were thumped 4-0 on the opening day of 2019-20 at the same ground, with Lampard copping criticism due to a number of defensive lapses that his side suffered from that day.
In the cup competitions, he has a slightly better memories, miraculously defeating Manchester United on penalties in the EFL Cup with Derby County in September 2018. He also guided Chelsea to the 2020 FA Cup final with a smooth 3-1 win over United at Wembley in the last four.

- Overall record: 1W-2L-1D
- Premier League: 1W-1L-1D
- Cup competitions: 0W-1L-0D (FA Cup final 2019-20)
Originally, Lampard won his first clash vs. Arsenal at the Emirates in dramatic fashion, turning around a 1-0 deficit to beat Chelsea's bitter rivals 2-1 courtesy of late goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham in December 2019. This was seen as a real character-building victory by his men, cementing Chelsea's credentials for an eventual top-four finish in midseason.
Chelsea were soon to meet Arsenal a month later, only to draw 2-2 at Stamford Bridge against 10 men after conceding a late equalizer. Lampard was to see this hard luck continue over time, as a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final at the tail end of the campaign denied his youthful side silverware after a promising first campaign in charge.
Not long before he was relieved of his duties, Chelsea went to the Emirates Stadium in December 2020 and were dealt a major blow to their Champions League hopes after being comfortably beaten 3-1 by the Gunners.

- Cup competitions: 1W-0L-1D
Much to his dismay, Lampard hasn't got on very well against Liverpool at all, losing four out of his five fixtures against the Merseyside giants, including a penalty-kick shootout.
In the Premier League, he has lost all three of his games as a manager against Jurgen Klopp, including a memorable 5-3 battle at Anfield in July 2020 where the two bosses engaged in a tense verbal spat on the sidelines.
In the beginning of his tenure, Chelsea were also denied UEFA Super Cup silverware as Liverpool defeated the Blues 5-4 on penalties in Istanbul in August 2019.
Lampard has beaten the Reds on one occasion however, leading his side to a controlled 2-0 win over Klopp's men in an FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Stamford Bridge in March 2020.
Frank Lampard's record vs. Tottenham Hotspur
- Overall Record: 2W-2L-1D
- Premier League: 2W-1L-1D
- Cup competitions: 0W-0L-1D
Undoubtedly, Tottenham are a side Frank Lampard enjoyed a lot of success against as a player and his managerial record against the Lilywhites isn't too bad.
With former club Chelsea, the ex-England midfielder has managed two wins in the Premier League. Firstly, a 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December 2019 came over Jose Mourinho thanks to a brace from Willian. Lampard followed that up with an impressive attacking display against Spurs in February 2020, as his side ran out 2-1 winners thanks to efforts from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso.
He has not enjoyed the greatest of luck since then though, losing in EFL Cup action away to Tottenham early last campaign on penalties at the Round of 16 stage. In November 2020, they finished in a goalless draw in the Premier League.
In his role at Everton, you have a feeling he would rather forget about his first installment of action against his familiar foes as boss. In March 2022, the Toffees were on the end of a 5-0 battering against Spurs, putting their Premier League survival hopes into further jeopardy.

Formerly a Manchester City player, Lampard is usually well received by the Etihad Stadium faithful due to his contribution during his brief stint at the club. However, as a manager, he has endured a frustrating time against the reigning Premier League champions, winning just once in four attempts against Pep Guardiola.
His first outing at the Etihad Stadium as Chelsea manager ended in frustration, as his side were unable to cling on to a one-goal lead, losing 2-1 on goals conceded to Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez which sealed the three points for City in spite of a spirited Chelsea performance in November 2019.
Lampard's solitary win against Man City was a significant one, as a 2-1 reverse scoreline six months later sent the Premier League title to Anfield for the first time in 30 years. Since then, the coach has suffered consecutive defeats to Man City while in charge of Chelsea and Everton. Chelsea were blown away by a 3-1 City win at Stamford Bridge in January 2021, increasing the pressure on Lampard as he was sacked just weeks later.
In the Goodison Park dugout, the 43-year-old was on the end of a harsh 1-0 defeat earlier this season in February despite being denied a stonewall penalty with the score tied at 0-0.
