Russian club Yenisey Krasnoyarsk have revealed their Argentine striker Juan Lescano will be playing for Brisbane Roar next season after agreeing to a transfer fee.
The 28-year-old made 117 official appearances for Krasnoyarsk and scored an impressive 30 goals but it's his history at youth level that is most eye-catching.
Lescano joined Liverpool's academy in 2010 as a 17-year-old before work permit issues saw him move on to enjoy a short stint with Real Madrid's youth team.
“At Liverpool people like Javier Mascherano and Emilliano Insua helped me a lot, but after the legal problems this is a big opportunity for me," Lescano said at the time.
The forward failed to make his mark in Spain however but has proven himself a solid goalscorer across Russia's first and second divisions over the past several years.
Lescano has in turn managed to catch the eye of Brisbane Roar, who recently lost key striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls and have seemingly wrapped up a deal for the promising Argentine.
"Krasnoyarsk club and Australian side Brisbane Roar FC have agreed to transfer forward Juan Eduardo Lescano. The Argentine will sign a two-year contract with the new club," Krasnoyarsk posted on Instagram.
"FC Yenisey will receive transfer compensation and a percentage from the player's future sale.
"We wish Juan success in his new place and say a big thank you for the matches played and goals scored in Yenisei."
Brisbane Roar are yet to confirm the transfer but have already signed Nikola Mileusnic and Matti Steinmann over the off-season.
Warren Moon's side finished fourth in the A-League last season before losing an elimination final 2-1 at home against Adelaide United.
