Everton vs. Western Sydney Wanderers projected lineups and team news

Everton are without four players due to the 2022 World Cup but have brought an otherwise full-strength squad to Australia. Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure both picked up knocks against Celtic so are unlikely to feature in this one.

Everton projected lineup (4-3-3): Lonergan (GK) — Keane, Holgate, Tarkowski — Patterson, McNeil, Price, Mykolenko — Gordon, Maupay, Gray.

The Wanderers will have a near fully-fit squad for this game as coach Marko Rudan looks to test his players against top-class opposition.

Wanderers projected lineup (4-4-2): Thomas (GK) — Cleur, Mrcela, Marcelo, Traore — Borello, Nieuwenhof, Amalfitano, Yengi — Krpic, Ninkovic.

Everton vs. Western Sydney Wanderers preview, prediction

Frank Lampard's side will come into this match as favouries but Rudan's men can't be written off.

The Wanderers have shown much better form in the A-League Men so far this season and beat fierce rivals Sydney FC away from home last time out.

This Western Sydney side have also proven hard to score against in recent months so Everton will need switch up their tactics if they are to get some goals.

Both teams are more defensive focused so goals may be hard to come by in this one.

Prediction: Everton to win 1-0
