Manchester United stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Dean Henderson have recorded messages of support for Perth-based footballer Danny Hodgson.

The ECU Joondalup attacker remains in intensive care following an alleged unprovoked attacked while on a night out earlier this month.

Hodgson turned 26 on Sunday and is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Support for Hodgson has come from around the world with a number of Premier League players donating to a fundraiser to help support him and his family

Red Devils goalkeeper Henderson crossed paths with Hodgson at Carlise United in England a few years ago and has helped rally support with Ronaldo joining his teammate in sending a message to him.

“Hi Danny, I just hear about your history, I hope you get well soon,” Ronaldo said in a video. "I invite you to come to one of [our] games in Manchester, so get well soon my friend. Take care."

Henderson adding in his own video: “Stay strong, stay in there, you’ll get through this, I promise. I know how hard you are and you’ll be fine.

"I can’t wait to get you over to a game and meet the boys. I’ve told them all about you and we’re all in your corner...we just wish you all the very best.”

After a public plea for help, Hodgson's parents were able to secure flights from the UK to Perth to be with their son but are currently stuck in hotel quarantine.

On his birthday, they released a statement explaining his love for football and the strength they hope will see him recover strongly.

"While we can't visit him in ICU for his birthday, we continue to send him unconditional love from our Pan Pacific Hotel quarantine room," the message read.

"As soon as he could walk, he was kicking a football.

"While we are immensely proud of Danny's many football achievements, we are even prouder of his off the field achievements. He is hard working, kind-hearted, funny, and quite simply a lovely young man.

"So Danny, on your 26th birthday, our gift to you is our belief in your courage, your strength, and the healing power of love.

"With the outpouring of love coming to you from Jess, family, friends, the football world, the people of Western Australia, it won't be long before you are back on the field."
