Cristiano Ronaldo appears ready to break his silence over the Manchester United transfer saga that has dominated the summer.

Various reports in recent months have suggested Ronaldo wants out of Old Trafford but the Portugal star has struggled to find a new club and the Red Devils have been seemingly reluctant to let him leave.

Despite all those rumours, Ronaldo has featured in Manchester United's first two games of the Premier League season which resulted in shock losses to Brighton and Brentford.

An Old Trafford exit for Ronaldo could still be on the cards, however, with the transfer window not closing until September 1.

As speculation continues to swirl regarding the 37-year-old's future, he took to Instagram to comment on a post from a fan page hitting out at the ongoing rumours.

Ronaldo himself reiterated the fact most reports are false and suggested he will speak out publicly soon to provide clarity on exactly what's been going on.

"They'll know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks," Ronaldo commented.

"The media is telling lies. I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip."

Could Ronaldo still leave Manchester United?

Based on Ronaldo's comments, he won't be speaking publicly until after the current transfer window closes.

That means his immediate club future remains up in the air with conflicting reports about what will happen in the coming fortnight.

According to ESPN, Manchester United won't be allowing Ronaldo to leave this summer despite suggestions the club had changed their stance on the possible transfer.

The Athletic claims Ronaldo is frustrating manager Erik ten Hag with his behaviour at training, however, and the Dutchman could yet to change his mind about sanctioning his exit.

Atletico Madrid remain the club most frequently linked with a possible transfer for Ronaldo but such a move would be complicated for both parties
