Celtic will travel to Australia this month to take part in the inaugural Sydney Super Cup.

The scheduling of the 2022 FIFA World Cup means that most professional leagues are pausing during the tournament, with both Celtic and Everton making the trip down under for friendlies.

With Australian manager Ange Postecoglou at the helm, it will be a rare opportunity for Bhoys fans in the country to watch their team in action.

The Hoops will play two games in Sydney, with their first match to be against Sydney FC at the newly-redeveloped Allianz Stadium.

Celtic vs. Sydney FC projected lineups and team news

Celtic are expected to bring a near full-strength squad to Australia for the Sydney Super Cup.

While the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda will be missing through World Cup duties, other stars should get minutes in Australia.

From Jota to Kyogo Furuhashi, this Celtic side will still prove to be very potent Down Under.

Celtic projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Hart (GK) - Ralston, Starfelt, Jenz, Bernabei - Hatate, O'Riley, Turnbull - Abada, Furuhashi, Jota.

Sydney FC come into this game after a 1-0 loss to fierce rivals Western Sydney Wanderers.

Veteran defender Alex Wilkinson has been ruled out for months, former Everton star Jack Rodwell is yet to make his debut for the Sky Blues and Adam Le Fondre remains under an injury cloud.

Goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne will also be missing as he's in Qatar with the Socceroos.

Sydney FC projected starting lineup (4-1-4-1): Heward-Belle (GK) - Grant, Donachie, Gurd, Caballo - Brattan - Mak, Yazbek, Caceres, Lolley - Wood.

Celtic vs. Sydney FC prediction

It's never easy to predict how a friendly match will pan out, but it's clear that Celtic is the superior side coming into this clash.

Both sides will likely place the focus on maintaining fitness levels as they navigate this unique mid-season break.

If the Sky Blues attack - which includes the likes of Adam Le Fondre and Robert Mak - makes the most of their chances in this game, they could snag an unlikely result.

However, Celtic's overall quality should be enough to tip the match in their favour.

Prediction: 3-1 Celtic
