Barcelona look to continue their blistering start to the season as they travel to the southern tip of Spain to take on struggling Cadiz at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla in La Liga play.

The Blaugrana are coming off a 5-1 demolition of Viktoria Plzen in Champions League group stage play, a match that saw Robert Lewandowski score a hat-trick in his first European appearance for his new club.

After an opening day scoreless draw against Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona have trounced La Liga competition, topping Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid, and Sevilla by a combined 11-1. Those results have them on 10 points through the first four matches, sitting behind only a perfect Real Madrid in the domestic league table.

Cadiz, meanwhile, sit in the La Liga basement, having not only failed to earn a single point, but failed to score a single goal through the season's first four matches. The club barely survived the drop last season, finishing 17th, just a point above relegated Granada.

Barcelona will be motivated to produce a quality result, having failed to beat Cadiz in each of their last four meetings. They actually fell 1-0 at the Camp Nou last season, and were ground to a 0-0 draw at the Nuevo Mirandilla as well. Two seasons ago, the league results between these two teams also resulted in a loss and a draw for Barcelona.

Cadiz vs. Barcelona projected lineups & team news

Cadiz manager Sergio Gonzalez only took over the club back in January, and while he barely steered the club to safety last season, the new campaign has a nervous feel to it already. Four straight defeats to start the campaign have the former Deportivo la Coruna midfielder desperately tinkering to find the right formula.

In an attempt to jumpstart regular striker Choco Lozano, Sergio deployed three different strike partners for the Honduran through the opening three matches, but none of the moves have yielded a return. He tried starting Lozano by himself last time out, but that also failed to produce results, collecting just seven shots worth 0.27 expected goals against Celta Vigo.

It's possible Lozano could be sat altogether, with any mix of Alvaro GimenezAlvaro Negredo, or Lucas Perez deployed instead.

Ruben Alcaraz and Jon Ander are both missing for Cadiz due to knee injuries, depleting the Cadiz midfield.

Cadiz projected starting lineup (4-1-4-1): Ledesma (GK) — Espino, Chust, Hernandez, Zaldua — San Emeterio — Ocampo, Blanco, Alarcon, Alejo — Lozano.

Barcelona manager Xavi rested a few key players during the midweek Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen, but for the most part the starting lineup was deployed. Therefore, it will be interesting to see who takes the field on Saturday against the league's bottom side, with a key Champions League group match against Bayern Munich looming Tuesday in Germany.

Sergio Busquets was the main player rested for the midweek European opener, with Raphinha and Gavi also seeing the bench. That could mean that the likes of PedriOusmane Dembele, or even Robert Lewandowski could earn a breather, with Memphis Depay possibly taking over through the middle or Ferran Torres getting another chance to impress.

At left-back, young Alex Balde has split time with Jordi Alba of late, and with the latter starting in the Champions League match. Balde could return to action in league play. New arrivals Marcos Alonso and Hector Bellerin could also be options at full-back, but it's unclear whether they'll be deemed ready to join the matchday squad.

Barcelona projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Ter Stegen (GK) — Balde, Garcia, Christensen, Roberto — Gavi, Busquets, Kessie — Raphinha, Depay, Dembele.

Cadiz vs. Barcelona betting pick & prediction

Odds via Caesars (USA), Sports Interaction (Canada), & SkyBet (UK).

Cadiz have yet to score a single league goal through four league matches, and it's not like they've been unlucky. They've simply not been good enough to sniff the back of the net.

So far this season, in 360 minutes of league action, they've produced 32 shots, totaling just 1.80 expected goals, with just a single shot from inside the six-yard box. That lone shot from close range, a 47th minute effort by Lucaz Perez against Osasuna, represents exactly a third of the team's entire expected goals haul.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are an energized side firing on all cylinders, sporting a squad that's healthy and bursting with talent. If this game is even close, it will represent a significant step back for Xavi and his squad after an excellent few weeks.

Pick: Barcelona -1.5 (-140 on Caesars)
