Barcelona vs Juventus result: Ousmane Dembele nets two wonder goals, Moise Kean replies in 2-2 draw image

Barcelona and Juventus put on a show for a large crowd in Dallas in an entertaining 2-2 draw that saw Ousmane Dembele and Moise Kean both strike two goals each for their respective sides.

Dembele got the start and torched the Juventus backline on two plays which saw him dribble past players like they weren't there. He finished one move off with his left foot and another with his right for two moments of magic that Barcelona fans won't soon forget.

Moise Keane responded for Juventus after the Italian side each time the Bianconeri were down. First he converted a pinpoint cross into the six-yard box by Juan Cuadrado, and then he finished off a strong move down the heart of the Barcelona defense, through the legs of the Barca 'keeper.

Robert Lewandowski started again for Barcelona, but he could not find the back of the net for the second straight match. Star forward Dusan Vlahovic was kept out of the match for Juventus and American international Weston McKennie did not make an appearance in front of his hometown crowd.

Barcelona face the New York Red Bulls next, while Juventus meets Real Madrid. Both teams will then play one final exhibition back in Europe before kicking off their respective domestic seasons.

Dembele could become Barca's most influential player

Lewandowski who? Ousmane Dembele outshined the club's star signing, and he showed why Barcelona were so intent on locking him up to a new contract despite a down season in 2021/22 amid widespread interest in his services after the expiration of his contract this summer.

Dembele proved once again that he can singlehandedly decide a match with his speed and silky dribbling moves, because they can be so effective at breaking down opposing backlines and generally wreaking chaos.

When he goes 1-v-1 against opposing defenders, Dembele makes things happen, and those kind of players are hard to come by in elite level football. The fact that Barcelona have two of them — Raphinha's magic decided the match against Real Madrid, and he returned to rattle the post against Juve — should alone guarantee more on-field success for Barcelona this season.

How did Lewandowski do against Juventus?

The Polish international didn't score in his second match for the club, but he was working hard as the leader of the front line, occupying the other team's center-backs, including the imposing Bremer, who was making his first start for Juventus. Lewa was limited to one decent chance in his hour on the field.

But it would be unrealistic to expect much more than this, even from a player brought in to make an instant impact. As a forward who depends on service, synchronized movements and chemistry with his teammates will be key, and that can only develop over time.

Frenkie de Jong at center-back again

Xavi has had to field questions about whether he's trying to send Frenkie de Jong a message by playing the midfielder ... at center-back during preseason. The Barcelona manager has denied it amid speculation regarding Barcelona's apparent need to transfer him this summer in order to balance its books. There is other chatter that the player is refusing to leave because he's owed money by the club, while still other reports say he wants to remain at Barcelona though it could mean a cut in wages.

With all that swirling around, De Jong played at center-back again against Juventus. Although he's played the position in the past at Ajax, he wasn't brought to Barcelona to be a center back. De Jong has still acquitted himself well, and if Xavi's words are taken at face value, then he may very well best serve the team in the back since the options are not as plentiful as they are in midfield, where it's a veritable logjam.

Barcelona vs Juventus live updates, highlights from preseason

Final: Barcelona 2, Juventus 2

87th min.: Chance for Barcelona! After some rough play from both sides, Gavi gets a shot on goal which the Juve 'keeper stops and Memphis Depay almost gets to the rebound. Juventus survive.

78th min.: Three more subs by each team and these look like the players who will see out the game. Plenty of youngsters on both sides.

69th min.: Barcelona hit the woodwork twice in a matter of seconds! Raphinha's free kick clatters off the crossbar, and then Ansu Fati curls a ball from the left side off the corner.

61st min.: A slew of subs on both sides. Meanwhile, the crowd wants more goals.

56th min.: Blast by Juan Cuadrado and Inaki Pena palms it out for a corner. There's a new edge to this game now that night has fallen at the Cotton Bowl.

52nd min.: Goal Juventus! After Barcelona started strong, Juventus came right down the heart of the Barca defense with Moise Kean finishing off the play in the box. Kean matching Dembele so far.

(WATCH the goal in the UK and in Australia.)

50th min.: Raphinha unleashes one! He came on in the second half and let's everyone know with a blast that stings the hands of Juve 'keeper Mattia Perin.

46th min.: Second half gets underway and we have two new goalkeepers. Mattia Perin (Juventus) and Inaki Pena (Barcelona) take over in goal for their teams. Other subs are in the match, but Robert Lewandowski is back.

Half-time: Barcelona 2, Juventus 1

Half-time: After a strong start by Barcelona, Juventus took over the match, but they were undone by two moments of magic from Ousmane Dembele who is already in midseason form. He darted by Juventus defenders like they weren't there on both of his goals, overshadowing Robert Lewandowski, who had only one decent look.

Angel Di Maria was the best player in the first half for Juventus, but fellow attackers Moise Kean and Juan Cuadrado needed some time to find their feet and they finally combined for the momentary equalizer. But Kean had whiffed on an earlier Di Maria cross, and Cuadrado was not sharp enough on a couple of other occasions, looking out of place on the left wing.

41st min.: Dembele again! Goal! It's Dembele against everyone. He gets the ball on the right wing again, beats Cuadrado, and then shoots through three Juve defenders. Dembele is having himself a game.

(WATCH the goal in the UK and in Australia.)

39th min.: Goal Juventus! Juan Cuadrado gets the ball wide left again and this time he has all the time in the world to pick out a cross into the six-yard box, where Moise Kean knocks it home in stride. We're even at 1-1.

(WATCH the goal in the UK and in Australia.)

34th min.: Goal Barcelona! Moment of magic from Ousmane Dembele! Just minutes after the hydration break, Dembele runs circles around Juventus left back Alex Sandro and he blasts a ball past the Juve 'keeper into the far side netting.

(WATCH the goal in the UKin Australia and in Canada.)

32nd min.: SUB for Barcelona: U.S. international Sergino Dest takes over at right back for Sergi Roberto.

29th min.: Barcelona have faded and Juventus again dangerous through Di Maria. His outside of the foot cross into the box finds Moise Kean, but the forward whiffs. Poor attempt from Kean.

23rd min.: Big chance for Juventus with Juan Cuadrado sprung in behind the Barca backline, but he pokes his shot wide. And the offside flag comes up. No VAR today, but he was off.

17th min.: It's officially the Di Maria show at Juve. He makes a penetrating run down the middle of the field and feeds Juan Cuadrado in the box, but no one's there to finish off the cross. Juve are dangerous in transition.

13th min.: After weathering the storm, Juventus are getting some more time in the attack and Ter Stegen stops Di Maria twice in a span of a few minutes. If Juve are going to pose any danger, it's going to be through the Argentina star, who's been roaming across the front line.

7th min.: New Juventus defender Bremer has his pass intercepted and it results in a curling shot from Robert Lewandowski that misses the top right corner. Juventus clearly not comfortable playing through the Barca press.

4th min.: Barcelona are already on top of the Italian side in the Juventus half and Ousmane Dembele fires the first shot of the match with a left-footed blast that was off target.

1st min.: Juventus kicks off the match. They'll be wearing the black and white stripes, while Barcelona are in their gold kits.

5 mins from kickoff: Teams are coming onto the field. Leonardo Bonucci and Sergio Busquets are the captains.

60 mins from kickoff: Lineups are in. Dallas native Weston McKennie starts on the bench for Juventus together with Dusan Vlahovic, who has yet to appear in preseason.
