Who is Cameron Peupion? Australian makes Premier League debut for Brighton
Playing in the Premier League is a dream for many young footballers across the globe, and Peupion has achieved just that.
The Sydney-born midfielder is still a regular member of Brighton's under-23 side but has finally earned his chance in the top flight after consistently positive showings.
Peupion joined Sydney FC's Sky Blue academy as a 14-year-old after impressing while playing for Manly United.
He was playing for the Australian national team at the 2019 under-17 World Cup in Brazil when he was spotted by Brighton scouts and asked to trial at the south-coast Premier League club.
As a 17-year-old, he then joined the Seagulls in August 2020 but never got to meet fellow Australian stars Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan, who were at the club at the time, because of COVID-19 segregation.

"It’s a shame - they were two players that I looked up to coming to the club and hoped to play alongside one day,” he said.
"They’re two great players and a loss to the club. But we’ve all keep kept separate the past few months.”
The Seagulls promoted Peupion to their under-23 team in 2021 after his eye-catching form for the under-18s the season prior, scoring nine goals and picking up three assists in 17 matches.
He went on to make his first-team debut in August 2022, brought on as a substitute in an EFL Cup match.
Peupion's top-flight debut then eventually arrived, featuring off the bench in Brighton's 4-1 Premier League loss to Newcastle United.

Are there any other Australians in the Premier League?
Peupion is not the only Australian involved in England's top flight.
Socceroos defender Harry Souttar is the highest-profile Australian in the Premier League, earning regular starts for Leicester City.
Campbelltown-born Tyrese Francois debuted for Fulham in 2021 but has been unable to get regular game time this season.
Elsewhere, fellow Aussie Caleb Watts is contracted to Southampton but has been loaned out for the entire season to League One side Morecambe.
