Macarthur have defeated Sydney United 2-0 in the 2022 Australia Cup final on Saturday night.

A vocal crowd of over 16,000 fans turned up at CommBank Stadium as a team outside of the A-Leagues appeared in the decider for the first time.

While Sydney United boasted greater support off the pitch, it was Macarthur who dominated from the outset with Daniel Arzani causing headaches in the first minute.

Macarthur captain Ulises Davila won his side a penalty after half-an-hour with Al Hassan Toure stepping up to clinically convert from the spot.

Sydney United started strongly after half-time but struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances.

Macarthur were having no such issues in the final third with Lachie Rose striking the crossbar with a header after 54 minutes.

The Bulls then wrapped up the contest in the dying minutes with Craig Noone winning a penalty and Davila making no mistake from the spot.

Macarthur’s 2-0 win handing the club their first piece of silverware and ensuring a perfect start to Dwight Yorke’s tenure as coach.

Bulls captain Davila tragically lost his wife this year with his teammates quick to dedicate the title to their skipper.

The Sporting News followed the match live and provided live score updates, commentary below.
