When is Argentina vs. Croatia at World Cup? Date, time, early odds and history for semifinal match image

Croatia have already knocked out the favourites, now they must crush Lionel Messi's World Cup dreams to earn a place in the final.

The Croatians will fear nobody in this competition after sending Brazil home on penalties to reach their second successive World Cup semi-final.

Perhaps they should be wary of Messi, though. The Argentine icon scored a penalty and provided a stunning assist to overcome the Netherlands and keep his World Cup dreams alive in his final tournament, as his eventually progressed via a penalty shootout.

This promises to be a fascinating match, and one not to be missed. Get all the info for this quarterfinal clash including TV information, kickoff time, betting odds and historical meetings between the two nations.

Argentina vs. Croatia history

There have been just five previous meetings between these two sides and historically speaking, this one is a tough one to call.

Since their first match in 1994, a 0-0 friendly draw in Zagreb, Argentina and Croatia have won two matches each.

They've met twice at the World Cup but never outside the group stages. The most recent clash caused fury in South America...

France 1998, Argentina 1-0 Croatia

The 1998 tournament was Croatia's first World Cup entry following the breakup of Yugoslavia, and they made an instant impact, led by captain Zvonimir Boban.

Croatia lost two games that summer, one to host nation and eventual champions France in the semi-finals, the other against Argentina in Group H.

Argentina, fielding Javier Zanetti, Juan Sebastian Veron and Gabriel Batistuta, edged a 1-0 victory and secured top spot in the group. However, they would exit against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

Russia 2018, Argentina 0-3 Croatia

The 2018 World Cup was a painful one for Argentina. Lionel Messi reversed his decision to retire from national duty but it wasn't enough.

Comfortably beating Argentina in their second Group D game foreshadowed Croatia's brave run to the final. Luka Modric, Ante Rebic and Ivan Rakitic were all on the scoresheet.

Argentina limped into the last-16 but crashed-out as a teenager Kylian Mbappe ran riot for France.
