Are the Matildas out of the World Cup?

Yes, but no.

Their journey at the tournament isn't finished, though.

Australia will now play a third-place playoff match against Sweden.

The relevancy of the fixture has been debated for decades, but it represents a chance for the Matildas to finish their home tournament with a victory.

When is the Matildas' next match?

The Matildas' next match will be a third-place playoff match on Saturday, August 19, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 pm AEST.

Brisbane Stadium is the venue for the clash, with another bumper crowd expected.

Australia's opponent will be Sweden, who were defeated by Spain in their semifinal.
