Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou is hoping football can find a way to continue ahead of their Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian on Monday morning (AEDT).
The United Kingdom has been rocked by a rise in COVID cases over the past fortnight with several English Premier League games called off recently due to the virus.
As things stand, the Hoops final will go ahead with Postecoglou confirming none of his players have tested positive in the build-up to the match.
Football leagues around the world are scrambling to deal with a rise in infections with some coaches calling for a temporary suspension.
Postecoglou, however, believes games should still be played if possible but is aware that the situation is an evolving one.
"It's a difficult one because we deal with limited information. The one thing we do know is it's very hard to predict the future," Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference.
"We could have a break and we may find that the worst is still ahead of the break and it just sort of puts more pressure on fixtures and clubs further down the line.
"My gut instinct is we keep playing until it's impossible to do so or we get advice that it's best we stop playing.
"The paramount thing is the health of our players, staff and supporters - for that we need to follow the guidance.
"It's unchartered territory for the whole world. We can't make assumptions. The one certainty that I do know is we can play and can have supporters in the stadium (against Hibernian) so my gut is we keep going."
Celtic go into the final having won six straight games in all competitions and beat Hibernian 3-1 in the league when they faced off in late October.
