Ange Postecoglou's Celtic signed three players and saw another five depart on a frantic transfer deadline day for the Scottish club.

After a recent 1-0 loss to fierce rivals Rangers, the Hoops managed to bolster their squad with the recruitment of striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, winger Jota and defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Those three last-minute deals saw Celtic make 12 additions throughout the transfer window with more than a dozen players departing.

On deadline day, French forward Odsonne Edouard sealed a move to the Premier League with Crystal Palace and Ryan Christie joined Bournemouth in the Championship.

While Postecoglou's side could use further reinforcements come January, the Australian coach has overseen a relatively successful first transfer window that didn't give him or the club much time to get deals done.

Giakoumakis looms as a quality late addition for the Hoops with the Greek forward joining as the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season and he's excited to play under Postecoglou.

"The manager’s attacking style of play is perfect for me. I can’t wait to come, to meet the fans and start something really good together," Giakoumakis said.

"Celtic have always been a team I’ve liked and I’ve watched many games in the past.

"The amazing atmosphere in the stadium is something else and I’m delighted to be here and to help write history together."

Though Postecoglou didn't sign any Australian players this window with Maty Ryan and Aaron Mooy previously linked with moves, Celtic fans were overall happy with the business that was done in a short space of time.

After consecutive losses going into the international break, Celtic will return to action against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on September 12.
