The 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup kicks off in India on January 20 with 12 nations aiming to be crowned champions of Asia.

Japan won the competition in 2018 after defeating Australia 1-0 in the final, while China have been crowned champions a record eight times.

India won hosting rights for the 2022 tournament with games to be played in Mumbai and Pune.

Along with silverware, the Asian Cup will also provide the five best performing teams (aside from Australia) with a direct place in the 2023 Women's World Cup. Two other teams, meanwhile, will earn a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs.
