The WACA will host the Ashes one more time with the Western Australian government confirming the under-construction Perth Stadium won't be ready come December.

MORE: The strangest dismissal in cricket history?

While the $2 billion stadium won't be fit to host the Test later this year, it's still hoped that the Burswood site will be able to house an ODI between Australia and England on January 28 next year.

A series of construction issues are behind the delay which will also likely see next season's BBL and WBBL fixtures played at the WACA.

A statement from Cricket Australia read:

'Whilst Cricket Australia and the WACA understand there will be a level of disappointment with this news for fans, we know that a Perth Test match at the WACA Ground will still be an enormously anticipated event that will be played in front of capacity crowds.

'Both Cricket Australia and the WACA remain hopeful that the One-Day International against England, scheduled for 28 January 2018, will be played at the new stadium.

'Cricket Australia will continue to work with the WA Government and stadium management to achieve this outcome.'
