Uruguayan striker Bruno Fornaroli has completed his move to A-League leaders Perth Glory - ending a difficult period that saw his axing at Melbourne City.

The 31-year has penned a two-year deal to join Tony Popovic's Western Australia revolution next season with Glory the current league leaders and close to claiming the Premiers' Plate.

Having mutually terminated his contract with City, Fornaroli won't be able to play until next season with his first taste of action set to be in a friendly against Manchester United in July.

With Glory currently soaring in the A-League, coach Popovic is hopeful Fornaroli can help them reach even greater heights next season with the Asian Champions League firmly in their sights.

“Tony said that there is a project here at Glory and that they want to play better than now and do better next season,” Fornaroli said.

“I believe in the project and I believe in the coach and that’s why I’m here.

“I’m where I want to be and this is the most important thing for me. I’m very happy to be here."

Perth Glory CEO Tony Sage had hinted at Fornaroli's possible arrival for some time and stressed his ultimate signing saw the club beat off global interest.

“The signing of Bruno is another strong statement of intent in terms of our ambition to bring sustained success to Perth Glory,” Sage said.

“Players with his great goal-scoring pedigree are always in huge demand and we beat off stiff competition from a host of clubs from all over the world to sign him.”

Fornaroli is one of the most prolific strikers in A-League history, scoring 57 goals in 83 matches across the league and FFA Cup for Melbourne City.

But the relationship with current City coach Warren Joyce soured at the beginning of the current campaign with Fornaroli frozen out of the first team in November before his contract was mutually terminated.

Once he does take the field for Glory, Fornaroli will be wearing the coveted number 10 jersey.
