Rodman, one of a select few Americans to actually sit down with Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, did not reveal his purpose for traveling to North Korea as four Americans are currently detained in Pyongyang.

When asked if President Donald Trump knew of his trip, Rodam said: "Well, I'm pretty sure he's pretty much happy with the fact that I'm over here trying to accomplish something that we both need."
U.S. Under Secretary of State Thomas Shannon told Fox News that Rodman was traveling as a “private citizen."
A former contestant on Trump's pre-presidency reality TV show "Celebrity Apprentice,” Rodman visited North Korea three times between 2013 and 2014. He described his trips as “basketball diplomacy” and called Kim a “very good guy.”
"Dennis is not a stupid guy," Trump said of Rodman in 2013. "He’s smart in many ways, he’s very street wise."
