Despite a lacklustre 2017 to date that's failed to live up to their pre-season hype, the Canberra Raiders have thrown their support behind coach Ricky Stuart by extending his contract until the end of 2020.

With Stuart's original tenure in the nation's capital set to conclude at the end of 2018, Canberra has opted to secure his services for a further two years despite poor recent results.

Though guiding the Raiders to the preliminary final in 2016, Stuart's side has struggled so far this season, twice losing to Manly in golden point, and they now sit tenth when many expected them to be top-four contenders.

Stuart is now in his fourth season in charge at Canberra and while results aren't going right at the moment, the Raiders hierarchy obviously still see him as the man to lead them to their first premiership since 1994.
