Eels coach Brad Arthur isn't a man to pull his punches and he lived up that history when asked how he thought Mitchell Moses faired on his Parramatta debut on Saturday night.

After a drawn out release from the Tigers, Moses had a less than spectacular debut in the blue and gold in a 22-18 loss to Canberra as he missed six tackles and delivered some pretty poor last-tackle plays.

Having only attending two training sessions with his new club prior to the game, the 22-year-old was unlikely to hit the road running and Arthur wasn't going to gloss over his performance.

"Yeah, it was okay," he said post-game.

"Couple of wrong kick options, but other than that, he's had two training sessions with us so it's going to take a bit of time, but the problem is we don't have a lot of time.

"It's not easy for anyone to come in.

"You could see we put ourselves in positions down on the try-line and we just at times, went a bit sideways.

"You could tell that we've only had two sessions together."

Parramatta and Moses next face the Rabbitohs on Friday night with the Eels out to avoid three straight defeats.
