Our Week 7 fantasy kicker rankings are here, and we're not trying anything new this time around. We're sticking to our every-week strategy of relying on high-volume guys in good offenses that have strong legs. Sure, the high-volume part doesn't always work out, but you can only plan for so much at the kicker position. Focus on teams with solid matchups and that have favorable conditions (in this case, playing in a dome) and that is often the best strategy. Of course, you can always just pick the most random kicker or the one with the best name...and that can work. That's how volatile and unpredictable the position is.
There are a handful of kickers on bye this week, but few of them are highly impactful fantasy options. Some teams may have had Mason Crosby (Packers) or Chris Boswell (Steelers) as their top placekicker, but few teams -- if any -- had Sebastian Janikowski (Seahawks) or Matthew McCrane (Raiders). Still, there's always the potential for teams to add a kicker, so be sure that if there's a solid guy on the waiver wire, like last week's byes Wil Lutz or Matt Prater, be ready to pounce on them. Of course, that's not an endorsement to use a waiver claim on a kicker, as they remain the most inconsistent and easily replaceable position in fantasy football.
Week 7 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST
If you need to replace a bye-week kicker and are looking for a streaming option, just grab one of our top-ranked guys for this week. There's a good chance that Greg Zuerlein could be available in your league as he attempts to return from a groin injury, and given that he's part of one of the league's best offenses, he could be a solid rest-of-season option. Other solid pickups include Adam Vinatieri (Colts) and Ryan Succop (Titans).
Note: We'll update our rankings throughout the week if weather or injuries figure to be major factors.
