Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals between the Warriors and Celtics is scheduled to tip off on Thursday night at TD Garden. With this potentially being the last game in the series, NBA DFS players will likely look to put Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, or Jaylen Brown in the Captain spot of their DraftKings Showdown line. All three players have been the top fantasy point scorers in the NBA Finals, and picking the right one could set you up for a win.
Outside of those three stars, DFS players should look to roster Andrew Wiggins, who has been the Warriors’ second-best player in this series. Below, we’ll look at our DFS showdown lineup picks for Thursday night’s main slate.
DraftKings Showdown Picks: Warriors vs. Celtics Game 6
$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team
Captain (1.5x points, 1.5x salary) SG/SF Klay Thompson, Warriors ($11,400)
In the previous five games in this series, we’ve usually gone with Brown, Curry, or Tatum in the captain spot. However, we’re going against the grain for Game 6 and putting Thompson in the lead role.
He has played well over the past three games, averaging 34.4 fantasy points per game and providing us with salary cap flexibility. He's also shooting the ball well from deep, making at least four or more three-pointers in three-straight games.
UTIL SF/PF Jayson Tatum, Celtics ($11,200)
If the Celtics want to extend the series to a seventh game, they will need Tatum to have an all-time performance on Thursday. The 24-year-old All-Star struggled in the first few minutes of Game 5 but ended up with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists (47.5 fantasy points).
If Tatum shot the ball better in the fourth quarter -- which has been an issue for him in the NBA Finals -- he could’ve finished with 50-60 fantasy points. Nevertheless, he’s scored 20 or more points in four straight games and is averaging 47 fantasy points per game in the Finals.
UTIL SF/PF Andrew Wiggins, Warriors ($8,200)
Wiggins continues to be one of the standout stars in the NBA Finals and is one of the reasons why Golden State has a 3-2 series lead. In Game 5, the 27-year-old dominated the Celtics again on both ends, posting 26 points and 13 rebounds (52.8 fantasy points).
The first-time All-Star has now produced a double-double in two-straight games. Wiggins is also averaging 44.4 fantasy points per game in his past three games and should be in line for another solid performance in Game 6.
UTIL C Robert Williams, Celtics ($6,800)
Williams has continued to be a factor inside the low post for the Celtics despite dealing with lingering knee soreness. The young center played well in Game 5, recording 10 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in 30 minutes (23 fantasy points).
The last time he scored in double figures was on May 27 against the Heat, when he had 12 points, two blocks, and one rebound (18.8 fantasy points). Williams should pick up easy rebounds and points inside the paint thanks to the Warriors lack of size.
UTIL PG/SG Derrick White, Celtics ($6,000)
White is coming off his worst performance in the NBA Finals on Monday, where he only had one point, one rebound, and three assists in 21 minutes off the bench. It was an abnormal performance for the veteran, who has been reliable for head coach Ime Udoka in the postseason.
However, the 27-year-old combo guard should bounce back in Game 6. White is recording 11.6 points per game and 17.3 fantasy points per game in his past five playoff home games.
UTIL SG Jordan Poole, Warriors ($5,800)
Don’t look now, but Poole is starting to heat up, which is good news for the Warriors and DFS players. The third-year combo guard had an efficient outing in Game 5, with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from deep. Poole rewarded DFS players with 15 fantasy points, which was surprisingly his second-lowest fantasy performance in the NBA Finals.
The former Michigan standout has scored in double digits in four consecutive games and averaging 20.6 fantasy points per game. The hope with Poole is he can knock down some three-pointers and be aggressive when on the floor. If he can get some assists and rebounds, that will increase his fantasy point total.
