The fourth Ashes Test ended in a draw after rain washed out much of the last two days of the game's play. England was in pole position to win the match and level the series at 2-2. However, nature played spoilsport.

Australia was in a spot of bother coming into Day 4 of the fourth Ashes test. After conceding a lead of 275 runs by the end of the second innings, Australia found themselves at 214-5 at the end of the fourth day - a day in which only 30 overs were bowled.

Most of day four, and all of day five were washed out due to rain, and the Test was declared draw. It has now eliminated the chance of England winning the Ashes urn. Australia leads the five-match series 2-1, with only one game to play.

The result had seen many of England's stars voicing their disappointment, including Joe Root who felt that game should've been extended till about 10 pm.

How did Damien Martyn respond to Root?

Australian legend Damien Martyn took to Twitter to express his joy as Australia retained the Ashes Urn. Responding to Root's comments to the BBC, Martyn quote-tweeted a hilarious one-liner. It has grabbed the attention of fans from far and wide.

Martyn responded to Root's ask to change the time schedules by saying, "You made the rules".

What did Root say to the BBC?

After the conclusion of the test, former England skipper Joe Root expressed his grief over the test being declared a draw.

“It doesn’t get dark here in England until 10 p.m. in the summer, why can’t we just play until we bowl the overs?”, questioned Root in an interview with the BBC,

The England batter has been trolled over all social media platforms for his ridiculous request to change the time schedules.

“There’s been a lot of chat about not bowling the overs. There are so many different ways of trying to find opportunities to get as much play in as possible. At every opportunity at every stage, you should be looking to find ways to get the Test on. We batted in worse conditions at Edgbaston, but that is cricket. You just want consistency in those conditions”, concluded Root.
