Shreyas Iyer is the skipper for the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Iyer made his IPL debut in 2015 when he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He quickly established himself as a key player for the franchise with his aggressive batting style and agile fielding. In 2018, he was appointed as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils, becoming one of the youngest captains in IPL history.

Known for his calm demeanour and tactical acumen, Iyer proved to be a capable leader for Delhi Capitals. Under his captaincy, the team reached new heights and qualified for the playoffs consistently.
However, his fitness has become a subject of intrigue of late.
Recent reports indicated that Iyer's back injury worsened during his participation in the Ranji Trophy with Mumbai. While some sources hint at the possibility of him missing the initial matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to this injury.
However, according to Mumbai team manager Bhushan Patil, there is no reason for concern, and Iyer is in good health. He is scheduled to join the pre-IPL camp in Kolkata in two days, as confirmed by Patil to Cricbuzz. However, the player himself has not made any public statements regarding his fitness status.
It must be noted that Iyer did not feature in the 2023 IPL season. He had been ruled out for the entire campaign due to the same injury which forced KKR to hand the captaincy baton to Nitish Rana.
