Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 clash at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday.

Sam Curran and co. eked out a close win against Gujarat Titans in their previous outing, emerging triumphant by two wickets and three balls to spare.

Chasing 159, they found themselves on the back foot with both their openers failing to get runs. However, their middle order batsmen Matt Short and Harpreet Singh Bhatia did the damage control and set up a platform for Sikandar Raza to take the team close.

The Zimbabwean turned on the heat and played blistering innings of 57 off 41 deliveries. His knock was ably complemented by Shahrukh Khan's cameo of 23 off just 10 balls which ensured the Kings got over the line.

Meanwhile, RCB will be disappointed to lose to Chennai Super Kings by eight runs, especially after being on top of the run chase for the bulk of the match. Faf Du Plessis (62 off 33) and Glenn Maxwell (76 off 33) were toying with the CSK bowling attack in the middle overs but once they were removed by Moeen Ali and Maheesh Theekshana, RCB lost direction.

In the death overs, Matheesa Pathirana bowled two excellent overs to further stifle RCB's attempts to chase down the total.

These two teams have faced each other 30 times in the past, with PBKS having the better head-to-head record with 17 wins compared to RCB's 13.
