With a lifeless MCG pitch the centre of attention after a drawn Boxing Day Ashes Test, Australian spin king Shane Warne has suggested the annual match be turned into a day-night affair to keep the spectacle alive.

Both Australia and England bemoaned the wicket at the MCG after they settled for a draw on day five after captain Steve Smith had posted his 23rd Test century in almost effortless fashion.
Cricket Victoria boss Tony Dodemaide has suggested to 'start again' with the pitch, while Warne is adamant the strong crowds that show up on Boxing Day deserve to be entertained and a day-night Test might be the answer.
“If the MCC continue to produce these sorts of pitches here for 250,000 people then it’s worth considering a day-night Test match for the Boxing Day Test,” Warne told News Corp Australia.
“It’s a great time of year to maybe have one next year against the Indians and see how it goes.”
Despite Warne's enthusiasm. Cricket Australia James Sutherland has previously insisted that both the MCG and SCG would remain solely day-time Test venues during the festive season.
The first ever day-night Ashes Test was held at Adelaide Oval this year with Australia claiming a 120-run win after a five-wicket haul from Mitchell Starc.
