How many times has Travis Head been dismissed for a duck against India in international cricket?

Travis Head has been dismissed for a duck only once in his international career against India, until December 26, 2024. That was on Day 1 of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Head, who has been in great form against India in previous encounters, was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for a duck. He came in to bat at No. 5 with Australia's score at 237/3 and played without trouble against Washington Sundar initially.

However, Bumrah set a perfect field to trouble the left-hander. On the second delivery from Bumrah, Head decided to shoulder arms, expecting the ball to miss the off-stump.

Instead, the ball came back in, hitting the off and middle stumps, and Head was out for a duck. Before this dismissal, Head had been a constant threat to India, with several big scores across formats.

His performance in the 2023 World Test Championship final, the ODI World Cup final, and numerous Tests had made him one of India's toughest opponents.

In the second Test, Head scored a blistering hundred in the first innings, getting Australia in a dominant position.

He continued his impressive form with a second consecutive century on Day 2 of the Brisbane Test, following his match-winning 140 in Adelaide. Coming in at 75 for three after Jasprit Bumrah's fiery spell, Head steadied the innings despite Steve Smith's initial struggles, scoring quickly and putting pressure on India’s bowlers.

In the fourth Test, however, he got out on a duck in Australia's first innings. Despite this, Australia scored over 300 runs at the end of Day 1. He only managed just a single run in the second innings of the second innings.

In the final game of the series, Head scored 4(3) in the first innings and an unbeaten while chasing 162 runs to clinch the series 3-1.
