New South Wales often has the strongest contingent of players featuring in Australia's Test team but that success is hurting them at the Sheffield Shield level.
The Blues have only won the Sheffield Shield competition once (2014) in the last decade including this season, where again they missed the final.
The wealth of talent on their list including the likes of Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood has mean't talented Shield players have moved interstate.
Now you can't blame the likes of Jake Doran, Chris Tremain and Adam Zampa moving interstate in search of an opportunity, but it does leave several gaping holes in the Blues squad.

This season the Blues began with three wins from three games but failed to win another game for the rest of the competition.
In those first three games, the side featured several Test players but once they disappeared for the Ashes and the tour of South Africa, so did NSW's success.
Elsewhere, several former NSW squad members shined when they were given an opportunity interstate.
-Victorian Chris Tremain topped the wicket-taking tally for this season with 51 wickets and has represented Australia in limited overs cricket. While Dan Christian continues to perform for the Bushrangers and was a key member of Australia's ODI and T20 set up a few years back.
-Former Blue Tom Rogers had an outstanding debut season picking up 35 wickets alongside Jackson Bird at Tasmania with the latter also playing nine Tests for his country.
-Young superstar Jake Doran was a considered a star of the future at just 16-years-old in Sydney. He soon moved to Tasmania and had a breakout year, averaging 45.12 with the bat. He will feature in Australian line-ups in years to come.
-South Australian pair Joe Mennie (30 wickets) and Adam Zampa (17 wickets in five games) have been consistent members of the Redbacks Shield side. Mennie has played one Test and two ODIs for Australia while Zampa has regularly featured in Australia's limited over sides.
-Queensland's Usman Khawaja is considered one of the biggest losses from NSW cricket. First showing off his talent for the Blues before moving north, he has featured in 31 Tests and played in all three formats for the Aussies.
NSW fans look away, the exodus doesn't stop there.
The Blues also let go of Peter Forrest, John Hastings, Jason Krejza and Nathan Hauritz as well as the late Phil Hughes. All five represented Australia in at least one format.
The worst loss for NSW was the talented Adam Gilchrist who revolutionised the wicket-keeper batsmen position. He was an out and out superstar at national level.
With that in mind, the Blues have still had plenty of talent in their squad in recent years including Moises Henriques, Ed Cowan (left to Tasmania before returning), Peter Nevill, Nic Maddinson, Steve O'Keefe and Trent Copeland.
All have played Test cricket for Australia but no batsman passed 400 runs this season, Trent Copeland was the only standout, taking 34 wickets from nine games.
It's easy to say the pressure is on NSW coach, Trent Johnston.
So it begs the question, why can't the Blues perform in Shield cricket?
The Sheffield Shield final began on Friday with Queensland hosting Tasmania at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
