Shane Watson has announced his retirement from Test cricket after losing his place following the opening match of Australia's ill-fated Ashes tour.
Watson scored just 30 and 19 in the first Test of the recent Ashes series - which England won 3-2 - and was subsequently replaced by Mitchell Marsh.
And the 34-year-old, who scored 3,731 runs and took 75 wickets in 59 Tests, has now decided to call time on his career in the longest format of the game, Cricket Australia confirmed on Sunday.
Speaking after being dropped for Marsh, Watson insisted he still had "a lot to give" at Test level.
But the veteran, who made his Test debut against Pakistan in January 2005, has now had a change of heart.
Watson sustained a series-ending calf injury during Australia's one-day win over England at Lord's on Saturday - a victory that put the tourists 2-0 up in the five-match series.
