Spin king Shane Warne has dramatically backflipped on his original stance against the Marsh brothers, offering them a second chance in his recommended Test XI for the upcoming series against India.

Following the catastrophic Australian batting collapse in the UAE, the cricket legend was quick to brush the indifferent pair from his original selections after they combined for just 44 runs across two Tests.

''I’m a huge fan of Mitch Marsh & his capabilities but appointed VC & batting so high? Paine has to bat in top 6 & why has Lyon not been appointed VC?'' Warne tweeted.

He saw a solution in the form of Matt Renshaw and Glenn Maxwell who filled in at the No.1 and No.4.

However, Renshaw's red-ball hopes have suffered a huge blow across the Sheffield Shield season where he has averaged just 23 runs in his last three appearances for Queensland, most recently being dismissed for 21 and 6 against NSW.

Maxwell has been travelling respectfully at international level with scores of 38 and 35 runs in the T20I and ODI respectively against South Africa, but his numbers aren't eye-catching.

It has led Warne to revert back to the much-maligned Marsh brothers who have responded with runs at home since Pakistan left them embarrassed.

Shaun Marsh notched up a match-winning 163 not out against South Australia for Western Australia on Monday, building on scores of 80 and 98 in this season’s Shield on top of 106 in the third ODI against South Africa.

On the other hand, brother Mitch Marsh made an inspiring 151 against Queensland in his first Shield outing, then scoring 1 and 44 in his second.

Warne has pencilled in Shaun Marsh at No.3, while Mitch Marsh pushed behind skipper Tim Paine at No.7.

The only casualty from the Pakistan series was Queensland’s Marnus Labuschagne, who made way for all-rounder Marcus Stoinis on the back of his incredible ODI series.

Stoinis took eight wickets at 15.12 against South Africa and ended his series with a modest 63 in the third leg.

Selectors won't get a decent look-in at Stoinis' red-ball credentials in the Shield season with the Western Australian tied up in the T20I series against India, possibly hurting his chances.

Warne has stripped Mitch Marsh of the vice-captaincy, handing it to opener Aaron Finch despite the fact the Victorian only made his Test debut last month
