'I have to find a balance in ODIs' - Rohit Sharma wants to curb his high-risk batting style ahead of Pakistan clash image

India captain Rohit Sharma commented on his changed batting style on the eve of India's opening Asia Cup 2023 match against Pakistan. The two teams will bump heads on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Addressing the media ahead of the high-octane clash, Rohit spoke on his aggressive batting approach and that he now aims to bring a balance in that as India have a very important three months ahead of themselves.

​​​​​He now wants to address this issue, emphasising that we can now expect better control from him in terms of his aggression.

"I have played with a high risk approach in the last couple of years, I have to balance that in ODIs, as a top order batter, it's my responsibility to set the platform,"  Rohit said in the press conference broadcasted on the Star Sports network.

"I don't want to throw my wicket away when I am in good rhythm, haven't thought much about that while playing T20 but in ODIs, it's very much required," he added.

The 36-year-old post the 2019 World Cup went about his business more aggressively. While his strike-rate has increased in the period, his overall average has taken a hit and has come down to 46.5.

When will Rohit Sharma play for India next?

As India and Pakistan are scheduled to be at the loggerheads tomorrow at Kandy, Rohit will lead the Men in Blue in what is expected to be a very vital tournament for them in their World Cup preparations.
