The Pakistan cricket team has been the center of attention in the cricketing world in recent days for all the wrong reasons. They lost the massive game against India in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup from a comfortable position, causing a huge blow to their super 8s qualifying chances, especially after that opening game shocker against the hosts, USA.
After getting bashed by former Pakistan players and legends themselves, former England skipper, Michael Vaughan has joined the party, with some harsh statements on the mentality of the Pakistan team in a game against India.
Vaughan was present on a podcast with Club Prairie alongside Australia’s legendary wicketkeeper and former rival Adam Gilchrist. In today’s story, The Sporting News covers the Englishman’s statements following the thrilling clash between India and Pakistan at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Pakistan lack mental belief to defeat India according to Vaughan
Pakistan’s dressing room in recent months has been a major talking point because of the on-goong turmoil between a few players, along with the captaincy saga ahead of the T20 World Cup. When pointed the same by Gilchrist, Vaughan jokingly stated that they should go back to Shaheen Afridi as the skipper once again.
He also said that if there is ever a contender to change a captain mid match, it is going to be Pakistan, when jokingly asked by one of the hosts on the show.
Further bashing Pakistan, Vaughan made a very harsh and bold statement stating that Pakistan are simply not capable of beating India, because they themselves don’t believe that they can.
Pakistan just cannot beat India. I mean, they are chasing 120, and yes it was an iffy pitch but I will feel it did a lot more when India were batting. It was more of a sticky stoppy kind of motion when India were batting. When Pakistan batted, the pitch played okay and they still couldn’t chase 120. They simply don’t believe they can win, that’s my fundamental summary of the game, Pakistan do not believe they can beat india.

With the recent players from a lot of pundits and former legends of the game, the problems with the Pakistan cricket team has become evident. Wasim Akram even stated that the Board would revamp the team completely and bring in new players, who should then be backed by the Board in order to develop.
