After losing their first two Super 12 matches to India and Zimbabwe, Pakistan looked dead and buried as a chance to win the tournament.
But three wins in a row and a shock loss from semi-final bound South Africa against the Netherlands opened the door for Pakistan to miraculously reach the last four.
New Zealand's route to the semis has been more straightforward - defeating host Australia, Sri Lanka and Ireland, with their only blemish coming against England.
