Netherlands vs. India T20 World Cup result: Virat Kohli & Suryakumar Yadav combine to blow away the Dutch image

India put on a comprehensive display to blow away the Netherlands with a dynamic partnership between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav lighting up the SCG.

Yadav's half-century off 25 balls handed him man-of-the-match honours, while the bowling attack proved far too strong for the Dutch as they strangled them into submission to record a 56-run victory.

India have now won their first two matches in the T20I World Cup to sit on top of the table with a mouth-watering clash against South Africa on the horizon.

Netherlands vs India T20 World Cup live updates

20th over: Arshdeep is on a hattrick but can't get the job done as his yorker is swept away. He concedes three boundaries in his final over, but it doesn't matter as India win comprehensively!

19th over: After the carnage of the last over- things are kept relatively quiet by Shami.

18th over: Wickets! Arshdeep keeps things tidy, then bowls a bouncer out of nowhere and joins the wicket-takers column with the rest of the Indian bowlers. Van Beek gone for just three runs. He then traps Klaassen in front on first ball. The umpire doesn't give it, but the Indians review and it's overturned. 101/9

17th over: Wicket! Kumar comes back into the attack and concedes his first run of the evening. However, the next ball he gets Edwards out to claim his second wicket. 96/7

16th over: Wicket! Pringle continues to swing his bat with the game well and truly out of their grasp now. His luck runs out too, chipping one up in the air off the toe of the bat.

15th over: Pringle smashes a six- the first of their run chase. Ashwin then produces three dot balls in his final over. 81/5

14th over: Break in play as captain Scott Edwards gets hit on the helmet- he's attended to briefly before carrying on. Arshdeep goes for the most expensive over of the innings so far with nine runs.

13th over: Wickets! Ackermann decides to push the pace up after being at the crease for a while but sends a shot straight to Patel. Tom Cooper then goes shortly afterwards to leave the Dutch in dire straits. Ashwin claims two in an over. 64/5

12th over: Axar bowls his fourth and final over of the night with just six runs from it.

11th over: A leading edge from the new man Tom Cooper almost goes back to the bowler only to fall into no man's land. The Dutch are struggling to break through India's impressive bowling attack,

10th over: Wicket! De Leede attempts to cut one away having not registered a boundary during his innings but sends it straight to the fielder. Axar Patel has two wickets now. 51/3

9th over: Ashwin is thumped to the boundary near square by Ackermann, with the Dutch needing to pick up their run rate.

8th over: Axar switches ends but can't summon a wicket like in his previous over.

7th over: Hardik is brought into the attack after the powerplay is finished for the Dutch. Nine off the over. 36/2

6th over: Shami appeals for lbw, but the umpire isn't interested with it going over the top of the wicket.

5th over: Wicket! O'Dowd is bowled by Axar while trying to sweep with the Dutch reeling at 20/2 early on. 22/2

4th over: O'Dowd tucks away another boundary and looks dangerous. Eight from the over.

3rd over: Wicket! Almost caught and bowled by Kumar with Singh lucky to keep his wicket after failing to offer a shot. He doesn't take any advantage of the let off though as he is clean bowled a delivery later. Shaky start for the Dutch who are finding runs difficult to come by. Wicket maiden from Kumar. 11/1

2nd over: The Netherlands get going thanks to O'Dowd who cracks one to the boundary with his first ball. He then times one perfectly through the off-side for his second four of the over.

1st over for the Netherlands: So, the Dutch face a challenging chase of 180 to win this match. Can they do it? Kumar opens with six dot balls.

INDIA 179/2

20th over: Van Beek closes out the innings with 17 runs- Kohli smashes a six off the final ball. 179/2

19th over: Van Meekeren takes the penultimate over, but he can't stop the duo at the crease from notching yet more boundaries. With just a flick of the wrists, Surya sends one racing away. A yorker to end the over. 162/2

18th over: Van Beek restricts the damage with a tidy over, until Surya lobs one straight down the ground for a boundary. 154/2

17th over: The runs are well and truly flowing now with India starting to put their foot down. Chants of 'Kohli' reverberate around the SCG. He duly responds with a fantastic strike for six. He then brings his half-century up with a single. 16 off the over.

16th over: Surya strokes two boundaries in a row, evading the fielders firstly and then slicing through one for the second. Expensive over from de Leede- three boundaries from it. 128/2

15th over: Van Beek comes on for his second over of the game and produces a swing-and-a-miss from Surya who is confident mood. He knocks a boundary through the gap much to the crowd's joy.

14th over: Surya finds the gap as he flicks one away for four off the off-stump. Then sends a cover drive away for another boundary. India brings up the century. 106/2

13th over: Kohli gets his first boundary of his innings with a shot back down the ground. With the captain gone, he looks like he's taking on the responsibility to get the runs now.

12th over: Wicket! After a relatively drama free over Sharma attempts a big shot but is caught on the boundary. The captain gone for 53. 84/2

11th over: Pringle puts the breaks on India somewhat early in the over, before Sharma answers the challenge with two boundaries.

10th over: Sharma steps off his back foot and sends one racing away to the boundary. It gets better though, when he chips a six as India accelerate their run rate. The most expensive over of the innings so far with 14 off it.

9th over: The teenager Shariz bowls his first over, with Kohli looking to get aggressive. India brings up their half-century. Just five off the over.

8th over: Van Beek comes into the attack, with India happy to work three singles in succession. The Sharma smashes his second six out of nowhere! But he then gets pinned lbw the next ball. The captain reviews the decision, and he is given his second reprieve of the game with bat involved. 48/1

7th over: The powerplay is over, with the Dutch happy with their work in the early stages. They've restricted India's run-rate and claimed a wicket. Pringle's second over is another tidy one. 38/1

6th over: Sharma and Kohli work van Meekeren around the ground, until Pringle almost catches a stray one down leg side. It just falls short though. 32/1

5th over: A single gets Kohli off strike, with Sharma then going big. He smacks one down the ground and should be caught but it's dropped in the outfield. Big let off for the captain.

4th over: Kohli comes to the crease to huge cheers. Sharma strokes another boundary as India keep the score ticking over. 23/1

3rd over: Wicket! The Netherlands continues to rotate through their bowlers with van Meekeren taking the ball. On his fourth delivery he traps Rahul lbw! The batter contemplates challenging the decision but elects not to after a lengthy discussion with Sharma. The captain then smashes a six to end the over. 18/1

2nd over: As is customary with the Dutch side, Pringle takes the second over. It's a steady over with India able to score just two. 9/0

1st over: Klassen takes the new ball with Rahul on strike- the batter digs it out and then a wide is bowled as India gets off zero. Rahul then hits his first boundary with a drive down the ground. 7/0
