Mitchell Starc has promised that Australia will fight to the end in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge after England moved to the cusp of Ashes glory on Friday.
The tourists were skittled for just 60 in their first innings and a brilliant five-for from Ben Stokes left Australia toiling again on 241-7, still 90 behind, when stumps were pulled up on the second day.
With England already 2-1 up in the five-Test series, Michael Clarke's men look certain to relinquish the urn.
Starc, who provided a rare Australian positive with Test-best figures of 6-111, reflected on a challenging two days in Nottingham, but insisted he and his team-mates would aim to make life difficult for England.
"It's a tough position to be in and a tough couple of days of cricket for us," he told Sky Sports.
"While we're fighting, we're still around. It's the Australian way to fight to the end and that's what we'll do.
"Taking six wickets was special with this being an Ashes series, but I'd rather we were heading into day three in a better position."
