Michael Vaughan and Mohammed Hafeez continue to take dig at one another on X!

The former England skipper labelled Hafeez's 'Virat Kohli is selfish' claim as 'utter nonsense' after the latter hit out at Kohli for his slow scoring rate against South Africa where he matched Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries.

The 36-year-old completed the landmark ton in the 49th over with a single and finished unbeaten, scoring 101 runs in 121 balls as India ended their innings at 326/5.

However, Hafeez took a step further and aimed a sly dig at Kohli after Ben Stokes scored a century against the Netherlands.

The English all-rounder played a brilliant knock of 108 runs off 84 balls while he was ably supported by Dawid Malan who scored 87 and Chris Woakes who hit 51 runs.

As Stokes registered a potential match-winning century, former Hafeez took to Twitter to praise the Englishman for a "selfless" innings. In the process, he also seemed to have taken a sly dig at star Indian batter Virat Kohli as Hafeez indirectly compared Kohli's innings against South Africa to that of Stokes' knock.

"Saviour of the ship @benstokes38 😍👍🏼  Good 💯 under pressure anchoring the innings where required with aggressive intent to get Maximum runs for the team to win at the end. Sheer example to differentiate Selfish vs Selfless approach," he wrote.

Vaughan hit back and quoted his tweet: "Great innings from Stokesy @MHafeez22.. As was Virats on a difficult pitch in Kolkata against a better attack .."

Vaughan finds out the reason behind Hafeez's dislike for Kohli!

Vaughan playfully reminded Hafeez of his dismissal at the hands of Kohli during a T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan in Colombo in 2012. Vaughan noted that Hafeez was one of the eight victims of Virat Kohli's bowling in T20 cricket which might be the reason for his dislike for the Indian batsman.

"Seems to me @MHafeez22 you were bowled by @imVkohli !!! Is this the reason you constantly have a pop at him .. 😜😜 #CWC2023 #India #Pakistan", he wrote.
