Maxwell: 'That' dismissal didn't change me' image

Glenn Maxwell said he is not haunted by his stunning dismissal during the Big Bash League in December.

The Australian all-rounder, now on Indian Premier League duty with Kings XI Punjab, reflected on his extraordinary dismissal while batting for the Melbourne Stars.

Facing his first ball, Maxwell backed away and left a Ryan Duffield delivery that cannoned into his stumps.

To his credit, Maxwell more than salvaged his summer - making 324 runs at the Cricket World Cup at an average of over 64 to help steer Australia to a fourth title in five tournaments.

Maxwell said his dismissal at the 'Gabba did not alter his thinking in the middle.

"The season definitely didn't start off too well. But after the BBL, I think I have been in pretty good form. That dismissal hasn't changed my mind set at all. I have been hitting the ball well and my confidence is high coming into this tournament," Maxwell told The Times of India.

Maxwell's IPL has started much like his Australian summer did, with six off four and seven off five to show for his first two outings.

But the Victorian is not concerned, despite acknowledging higher expectations on himself and his countrymen.

"The scenario is definitely a bit different now," Maxwell said.

"We are coming here after the World Cup and there's this high of becoming world champions with Australia. The expectations are obviously very high after the season I had last year.

"I don't like to quantify my aims for IPL Eight but I hope to keep on doing what the team needs from me."

He added: "Failure and success are part of the game. My role in the Kings XI team is to go hard at the ball and that's what I'll do every single time I walk out in the middle. Sometime that might click and other times not, but I'll not change the way I play."
