Pakistan v Australia: Marnus Labuschagne brain explosion results in bizarre run out image

Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne has been dismissed in bizarre fashion in the second Test against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi, after a brain explosion.

Labuschagne was batting with Mitchell Starc in the first innings, putting on a partnership of 37 with the score at 7/128.

Starc hit a straight drive off the bowling of Yasir Shah, with Labuschagne at the non-striker's end.

Shah got a finger to the ball, and it went onto the stumps at the bowler's end.

The umpire sent the decision upstairs for a look, and replays revealed Labuschagne inexplicably had his bat in the air while his foot was out of the crease.

He was given out by the third umpire for 25.

Normally one to be fairly reserved with his opinions, former Australian batsman Michael Hussey didn't hold back.

Watch the strange dismissal below:

"He obviously wasn't thinking," Hussey said on Fox Cricket's coverage.

"The Pakistanis couldn't believe it either.

"And just a mental error, just given Pakistan a wicket.

"I think he'll be in disbelief. Would not have believed that he's made such a mental error and the one that'll be hurting the most will be him, sitting in the dressing room watching that replay over and over again.

"He'll see that as a missed opportunity and Justin Langer the coach will be so frustrated with that."

Former Pakistani paceman Waqar Younis shared Hussey's disbelief.

"It was terrible, what was he thinking?" Younis added.

"Doesn't matter how many times you see that.

"He saw the ball going onto the stumps.

"I can't even say that he's upset.

"Well he's trying to explain, trying to get a little sympathy from the coach which I don't think he's going to get."

Fans on Twitter echoed the sentiments of the commentators.

Australia collapsed on day two to be bowled out for 145, trailing Pakistan (282) by 137 runs after the first innings.
