Fraser-McGurk, a promising all-rounder, had already showcased his prowess while representing Dubai Capitals, the sister franchise of Delhi Capitals, in the ILT20 earlier this year. During his stint with the side, the young cricketer left a lasting impact, featuring in three matches and amassing 109 runs at an impressive strike rate of 213.72, with a top score of 51.

In an official statement from the IPL, it was announced that Fraser-McGurk would join Delhi Capitals for his reserve price of INR 50 Lakh.

What did IPL say?

"Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024," read the statement from IPL.

"Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury."

"Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lakh."

Fraser-McGurk has already made appearances in two One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Australia, where he garnered attention for his attacking intent and promising performances.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will also have to navigate the IPL 2024 season without the services of England batter Harry Brook, who was acquired during the auction for 4 crores. Brook has opted to withdraw from the tournament to grieve his grandmother's passing and be with his family. As of now, the Capitals are yet to announce a replacement for Brook.

However, there is positive news for Delhi Capitals fans as Rishabh Pant, the dynamic Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, is set to make his return to the team after undergoing an intensive 14-month rehab and recovery process. Pant's comeback will undoubtedly bolster the Capitals' squad with his explosive batting prowess and agile wicketkeeping skills.

Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23, facing off against Punjab Kings in what promises to be an exciting encounter at Mohali.
