England captain Joe Root vows dressing support for Moeen Ali over Ashes abuse claims image

Joe Root says the England dressing room is behind Moeen Ali following his claims that he suffered abuse by an Australia player in the 2015 Ashes.

Spinning all-rounder Moeen, who is of Muslim faith, alleged in his upcoming autobiography, an excerpt of which was published by The Times, that he was called "Osama" during the first Test in Cardiff.

Cricket Australia later vowed to follow up on Moeen's allegations with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

And England captain Root vowed that Moeen will have the support of his team-mates.

"He's such a good guy, everybody loves having him around," Root told Sky Sports News

"He adds so much to the dressing room environment and obviously as part of the tight-knit team we are - we all get on so well together - you're always there for each other.

"Mo will know he's got that whole dressing room behind him."
