Their latest game in the tournament came in the final of the 2023 World Cup where India batted first and only managed to get 240 runs on the board.

Travis Head scored 137(120) to help the Aussies chase the total down in only 43 overs. The other top performers were the pace trio of Australia. Starc got 3/55, Cummins 2/34 and Hazlewood got 2/60.

ICC Champions Trophy

The ICC Champions Trophy has undergone a number of changes in its format over the years, from knockouts to round robins and a mixture of both. India and Australia have played each other just four times in this competition. The first time came back in the quarterfinal of the first edition in 1998, when it was still known as the ICC KnockOut Tournament.

The sides have not met in this competition since 2009, when rain washed out their meeting in Centurion.

ICC T20 World Cup

India may have won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, and they defeated Australia in the semifinal of that tournament. Overall, India have played five T20 World Cup matches against Australia, winning three.

They then met in the Super Ten stage in 2016. A team batting effort in Mohali took Australia to 160/6, but India rode on the back of Virat Kohli's superb 82* to win with five balls to spare.

Their latest meeting in the tournament came in the super-six stage of the 2024 World Cup in St Lucia where Rohit Sharma scored 92(41) to help India to 205/5. Thanks to the three-fer for Arshdeep Singh, Australia could only manage to score 181 runs and lost by 24 in the chase.
