Will Glenn Maxwell play for RCB in IPL 2025? Australian star reportedly unfollows Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Instagram image

Glenn Maxwell's IPL future hangs in thin air, as IPL mega auction approaches ahead of the 2025 season. The Australian all-rounder was Royal Challengers' Bengaluru's big-money buy ahead at the IPL 2021 auction. Having purchased the then 33-year-old for 14.25 Crores, RCB bet many of their chips on Maxwell.

Ahead of the IPL 2025, the franchises brace themselves for a long-term overhaul in rosters, instead of the mega auction. Maxwell, having been a journeyman throughout his IPL career, could be on the market as he finds a new home in the cash-rich T20 league.

Glenn Maxwell's social media activity has sparked rumours of RCB exit, as the franchises have been kept on the radar ahead of the mega auction. The Aussie reportedly unfollowed his current employers on Instagram, which could well mean that he is on the move ahead of IPL 2025.

IPL 2024 did not go as per Maxwell's expectations. The veteran all-rounder scored an aggregate of 52 runs, having featured in 10 matches. He played a fiddle to the then-new-recruit, Cameron Green. Maxwell's departure may not be a surprise to many, considering his fiascos last season.
