Paceman Lasith Malinga is a certain starter for Sri Lanka's Cricket World Cup opener against New Zealand on Saturday.
Malinga was a fitness worry heading into the tournament, having undergone ankle surgery late last year.
His last one-day international was in August last year but captain Angelo Mathews said the fast bowler would take on the World Cup co-hosts in Christchurch.
"The final 11 we still haven't decided but Lasith will definitely play. He's fit to go," Mathews told a media conference on Friday.
Malinga's return will be a boost for Sri Lanka, who were beaten 4-2 in their seven-match series against the Kiwis in the lead-up to the tournament.
Mathews said his side's form was of no concern but he hopes to see more from his middle-to-lower order batsmen.
"In the recent past, especially in New Zealand, we've found ways of losing games more than winning games," he said.
"I think our late-middle order haven't produced good results for us but I'm pretty sure we had a couple of bad practice matches as well, but we are not too concerned about it because we gave guys the opportunities and we were trying out a few things so we're not really concerned.
"When it comes to tomorrow, everyone needs to be on their guard and be positive."
Mathews expects plenty of runs to be scored on a good-looking Hagley Oval pitch.
The 27-year-old said New Zealand were under pressure to perform on home soil but he doubts they will be overly affected.
"Playing at home always adds that bit more pressure but I think they are a very good team to handle that and they'll obviously come and play positive cricket," Mathews said.
"We are expecting a very good challenge from them."
