Stuart Broad fired a warning to Australia ahead of the Ashes as he hinted at a repeat dose of the humiliation he dished out at Trent Bridge in 2015.

The England star produced one of the great spells of bowling to claim 8-15 in the fourth Test on home soil as the hosts wrapped up a series success in style.

It stands as Broad's best return and remains a sore subject for Australia, who were skittled for just 60 in the first innings as the towering bowler surpassed 300 wickets.

Speaking to Omnisport, Broad reflected with some disbelief on his achievement that day, but suggested he may be close to replicating the feat when the Ashes begins again in Brisbane next month.

"I think that fate looked after me on that day a little bit with the Ashes being on the line, but being my home ground I bowled thousands of balls there, I felt hugely comfortable at that ground and I always feel so welcome at my home ground," Broad, an ambassador for The Belfry Hotel & Resort, said at its PGA Golf Academy, where he was being custom-fitted for a new driver ahead of the five-match 2017 series.

"It was one of those spells I look back on and it still doesn't feel real. I see the scorecard 60 all out and it just doesn't look right.

"It still probably hasn't really sunk in as to how that happened, but yes you wish you could do something like that every day. You wish that you felt in that sort of rhythm and the ball came out in that sort of way all the time and it's something you're always chasing as a sportsman

"But it's just not realistic, so you have to find techniques and routines that get you as close to that feeling as possible and there is nothing more frustrating than feeling out of rhythm or feeling like the ball isn't coming out very well.

"With experience you actually learn [to] just hold on, it will change, the game will change. You do the right things, you work hard and you work on the right things in your action then your day will come because the cricketing gods will look after you and I genuinely believe that my time is coming again and I think this Australia trip will be a good one."
