Australian opener David Warner has been a stalwart of the game over the past decade. The 37-year-old had hinted at his international retirement before the T20 World Cup 2024 and on Monday, he brought a halt to his 15-year-long international career.
However, Warner still hopes to represent Australia for one final time. The New South Wales-born cricketer expressed his gratitude towards various stakeholders of the game, via an Instagram post.
Australia were eliminated in the Super 8 stage at the T20 World Cup 2024. That being said, Warner walks out of the sport with his head held high, winning four ICC tournaments.

David Warner has hung his boots from all formats of cricket. The cricketer bid adieu to the sport on Monday, less than a fortnight after Australia bowed out of the recent T20 World Cup.

The Australian opener recalled his international achievements and thanked the fans for their support throughout his career.
100+ games in all formats is my highlight. I want to say thanks to everyone out there who has made this possible. I truly hope I have entertained you and changed cricket, especially tests, in a way where we scored a bit faster than others. We cannot do what we love without the fans, so thanks, Warner thanked the fans for their unwavering support.
Will David Warner play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025?
Despite announcing his retirement, Warner hinted that he could return to the Australian team, for one final time at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
He added in his statement,
I will continue to play franchise cricket for a while, and I am also open to playing for Australia in the Champions trophy if selected.
