Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey's chin was split open by a vicious Jofra Archer bouncer as England's pacers ran riot to begin their World Cup semi-final at Edgbaston.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Australia found themselves 3/14 with captain Aaron Finch, David Warner and Peter Handscomb sent packing early.
Finch fell LBW for a golden duck to Archer before Warner (9) sparred a rising delivery from Chris Woakes into the slips.

Handscomb, playing in his first World Cup match due to an injury to Usman Khawaja, looked all at sea in his innings and was castled by Woakes for 4.
His dismissal brought Carey to the crease – and Archer gave him a thorough reflex check.
Carey's helmet was dislodged after a blow to the head from a sharp Archer bumper, with the 27-year-old smartly catching the protective guard before it could dangerously land near the stumps.

With blood trickling from his chin, Carey immediately called for medical attention and had the cut taped up.
Australia had crawled to 3/36 after 13 overs at the time of publishing, with Steve Smith (6) and Carey (9) resisting the English onslaught.
Carey needed running repairs as his innings went on, having his chin strapped Rick McCosker-style.
