New Zealand beat Bangladesh by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday evening to maintain their perfect record after three matches in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup.

New Zealand's pacer Lockie Ferguson delivered an exceptional performance, leading his team's bowling attack against Bangladesh.

His exceptional pace and accuracy proved to be the key to dismantling Bangladesh's top order and finished with figures of three for 49.

However, Shakib Al Hasan's resilience was noteworthy. Despite a slow start, he managed to regain momentum and provide crucial support to Mushfiqur Rahim, who emerged as the standout batter of the innings. Together, they forged a 96-run partnership, stabilizing Bangladesh's innings.

Mahmudullah played a fine cameo of 41 runs of 49 balls at the end of the innings to help Bangladesh post 245 runs on the board.

In response, New Zealand chased it down with eight wickets in hand and 43 balls to spare.

After losing Rachin Ravindra early, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway steadied the innings.

Bangladesh made an early attempt to make the chase difficult with some economical bowling, but New Zealand had an ace up their sleeve in the form of their captain, Williamson. Known for his unhurried approach, Williamson, along with his teammate Daryll Mitchell, navigated through a challenging phase of the game.

Williamson's patience and unflappable demeanour stood out as he calmly ran down the runs with consummate ease. Although Williamson had to retire hurt after he was struck on his left thumb on 78, Mitchell saw it through by playing a fine knock of 89 off 67 balls.
