The Netherlands emerged triumphant over the mighty South Africans by 38 runs at the HPCA Stadium in Dharmsala on Tuesday.

It was their first win in the ICC World Cup over a test-playing nation and their third overall in the history of the global tournament.

The game was delayed by two hours due to rain, resulting in a reduced match format of 43 overs per side.

South Africa initially had a strong start, as their pacers ran through the Dutch top order and reduced them to 80/5. However, Scott Edwards took charge of the situation and played a crucial innings of 78* from 69 balls which included 10 boundaries and one maximum.

Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt's cameo at the end of the innings complemented Edwards' innings perfectly to further mount the pressure. Dutt played a blinder scoring 23 runs from just nine balls which further helped them get 245 in their 43 overs.

In response, South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were already four down in the first 10 overs. Roelof van der Merwe removed Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen which jolted the top order.

David Miller and Keshav Maharaj scored 43 and 40 respectively to put up some resistance, but their efforts were too little to save them from their first loss against a non test-playing nation.
