What injury did Cameron Green suffer?
Green first experienced back pain after Australia's loss in Durham. He was Australia’s best performer in the third ODI with both ball and bat and was left out of the fourth ODI at Lord's for further evaluation.
His condition worsened, and after scans in London, the team decided to send him back to Perth for more detailed assessments.
Will Cameron Green miss Border Gavaskar Trophy series?
Yes, Green will miss the upcoming BGT series as he will undergo a lower spine surgery, which could rule him out of cricket for at least six months. His absence could leave Australia in a tricky position.
The all-rounder will miss the India Test series, Sri Lanka tour and the Champions Trophy.
According to a cricket.com.au report, "He will follow the same recovery process that was followed by James Pattinson, Jason Behrendorff, Ben Dwarshuis, and Jasprit Bumrah, that is to have screws and a titanium cable fused into his lower back. It will stabilise the stress fracture and prevent any future issues."
Green's absence, with him being an all-rounder, would affect both the bowling and batting line-ups. Australia will now need to shuffle their batting order as well.
