Team-mates Rory Burns and Moises Henriques are "in good spirits" according to Surrey County Cricket Club following their collision during a Twenty20 match at Arundel on Sunday.

The pair were injured when attempting to take a catch towards the end of Sussex's innings in an incident that prompted three ambulances to enter the field of play.

Amid immediate concern for both Australia international Henriques and young batsman Burns, both were taken to hospital with the former suffering a broken jaw and the latter requiring stitches for head and facial injuries.

"Latest news is that Rory and Moises are both in good spirits in hospital..Rory is waiting to have stitches on head and facial injuries," Surrey confirmed via Twitter.

"Moises has broken his jaw in three places and is waiting to have an operation..dental surgery will follow."

Both players were able to give spectators a thumbs-up on their departure from the ground but required initial oxygen treatment with the match duly abandoned following the delay.

Sussex physiotherapist John Marrale was among the first on the scene and told the ECB's official website: "Both were unconscious after the collision.

"Henriques was caught by Burns' knee and Burns had lacerations on the top of his head and below his eye.

"They were given oxygen and pain relief was administered by an intravenous drip before they went to hospital. Fortunately they were sitting up when they left the ground but it was a sickening incident."
